India has just reached the 4th level of lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The government’s declared multiple lockout relaxations 4.0. It has also introduced a new movement pass requesting website. Developed by the National Informatics Center (NIC), it currently offers Coronavirus E-Pass services across India for 17 states. Such e-Passes intends for people who for some particular reason want to travel from one state to another. Not only does the website allow citizens to apply for an e-Pass but it also allows them to check the status of their e-Pass application.

These e-Passes applies for only for certain categories of travel, as per the guidelines provided on the web. Which include: students, critical service providers, visitors, travellers, medical / emergency travel, and for marriage. The information gives with due proof of your travel requirement.

Steps to Apply for E-Pass Using Indian government’s Website

  • Open ‘http://serviceonline.gov.in/epass/’ on your PC or phone
  • Choose your state by clicking on ‘Select State to Apply e-Pass’ drop-down
  • After this, a list will appear with all the e-Pass services currently being offered by the particular state. Click on the type of pass you want to apply for. For example, Arunachal Pradesh is offering three different types of passes — Vehicle Pass, Standard person and migrant labour pass and for exempt activities.
  • It will then redirect you to the state e-pass portal, fill in all the necessary details, upload the documents and submit the application
  • Once submitted, note down the Application Reference number to track the application status.

How to check Coronavirus E-Pass application status

  • Open ‘http://serviceonline.gov.in/epass/’ on your PC or phone
  • Now, click on the ‘Track Your Application’ button
  • Select state from the drop-down menu
  • Choose the option ‘Through Application Reference Number’
  • Enter Application Reference Number in the assigned box, fill in the Captcha and click on Submit button to check your e-pass application status
  • So, if you don’t have your ‘Application Reference Number’, select the second option ‘Through OTP/Application Details’ and enter all the details asked to check the status of your application
